Dr. Jones is a dentist that cares about his clients. He believes in saving your teeth. Sometimes that is a job. Thank goodness there are still good dentists like Dr. Jones, who works with his patients making sure he gives them the best possible care he can.
Porcelain veneers are beautiful, very thin shells that are permanently adhered to the front surfaces of teeth. They are extremely versatile, capable of correcting color, shape, size, or spacing of teeth. In many cases, veneers can even be used to correct the appearance of crooked teeth, allowing the patient to avoid wearing braces. Their thickness is comparable to a fingernail or contact lens, so very little if any enamel needs to be removed in preparation.
The process is rather simple, and usually completed in two appointments. On the first appointment, your teeth are prepared, and impressions are taken. They are sent to a quality laboratory, where your veneers are made. When you return for your second appointment, Dr. Jones will temporarily place them, so you can see how they look and feel. If you and the doctor are satisfied, he will permanently bond the veneers to your teeth. Occasionally, adjustments are needed. If the veneers are returned to the laboratory, you will need to come back for a third appointment.
Veneers require no special care, but you still need to brush, floss, and see your dentist every six months. Although the porcelain doesn't decay, the underlying tooth can still get cavities. With good oral hygiene, veneers can last for many years to come, providing they are initially the right choice for you.
Before recommending veneers, Dr. Jones will evaluate the condition of your teeth. If you have significant decay or existing fillings, a crown is usually the better choice. It serves the same cosmetic purpose as a veneer, but it is stronger because it covers all sides of the tooth. You may know people who have veneers, and keep having trouble with them. Most of these people needed crowns instead.
It takes considerable experience and discerning judgment to recognize bite problems and other issues that affect cosmetic treatment. That is why Georgia residents turn to Dr. Jones for long lasting, beautiful, healthy smiles.
