Your First Visit
First off, we would like to thank you for choosing Social Circle Dental. We are honored by the trust our patients place in us, and we assure you that your health, safety, cosmetic goals, and satisfaction with our service all top our list of priorities.
The first thing you will notice when you walk into our office is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. You will be greeted with a smile, and welcomed like family. Don't worry if you are nervous. It's a common phenomenon, especially when visiting a new dentist. As soon as you get to know Dr. Jones and his caring team, you will look forward to visiting your dental family every six months.
What should you expect as a new patient? Of course, there will be paperwork to fill out, so allow yourself a little extra time. Don't forget to bring your insurance information. We will also need to know about your health and dental history. If you have any questions about the forms, just ask. Our helpful office staff will assist you if possible.
The initial exam takes about 60 minutes. Dr. Jones will evaluate your teeth and gums, as well as taking x-rays. We use a digital x-ray system, which is accurate, convenient, and safe. The process is fast, and exposes you to much less radiation than traditional x-ray techniques.
Cleaning is usually included in the first visit. We will also give you instructions, and tips for convenient, effective oral hygiene. If any health issues, such as decay, fractured teeth, or gum disease, are discovered, we will explain the problem, and your treatment options.
We may take photographs during this appointment, using an intra-oral camera. This high-tech device is a tiny camera that can take pictures inside of your mouth. We then put those pictures on the computer screen, so you can see what the doctor is seeing.
One of the most important aspects of this visit is simply a conversation with Dr. Jones. He will want to know about things like if your teeth are causing pain, if you are having difficulty chewing, and if you are happy with the way your smile looks. Don't be shy – he is your dentist and your friend. If you have questions, want information about a specific treatment, or you are concerned about your oral health for any reason, just talk to Dr. Jones.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
