Once the doctor has prepared the tooth to receive the crown, he takes an optical impression of the tooth. The digital impression is sent to the CEREC software, which converts it to a virtual 3D image on the computer screen. The doctor uses his skill and artistry to design your crown, and the pattern is sent to the CEREC milling machine. A block of porcelain matching the color of your teeth is inserted into the machine, and about 20 minutes later, your new crown is ready to be placed. Dr. Jones is in control of the entire process of creating the crown, from the image to the finished product.
