Regardless of age, your smile is always a large part of you, one of the first things that people will notice about you. An important feature, the smile shows others your personality, and is what first impressions are based on. When teeth are missing, the natural inclination to show your smile may be halted, subsequently hiding your personality and possibly making you seem unfriendly. Under such circumstances, it is common for a person to lose confidence and experience diminished personal interactions. It is important to feel good about the appearance of your teeth so that you can smile freely. One of the ways this can be done is with partial dentures, designed in our Social Circle practice. There are great consequences to living with missing teeth, even just one. This altered structure tends to result in the shifting of other teeth, and can lead to deterioration of bone structure. The more teeth that are missing, the greater the likelihood that facial contours will be impacted, as the teeth are an integral part of facial structure, supporting lips and cheeks and keeping them from sinking inward. Working with Dr. Jones, both beauty and functionality can be restored with a well-designed partial denture appliance. Dentures are a well-known solution for missing teeth, used for many decades. Full denture appliances are what most people readily think of, but a partial denture is the ideal treatment when there are a number of healthy teeth still present. With the enhanced variety of materials to choose from, innovative modern techniques for fabrication, and the customization process, denture appliances made today not only look beautiful but also fit very well. Partial dentures have two forms: fixed and removable. A fixed partial is also called a fixed bridge. This type of denture anchors on the teeth situated on each side of the empty space to be bridged, as each tooth is fitted with a permanent dental crown. The artificial tooth or teeth then sit on top of the gums, able to function properly due to the strength of anchor teeth. Removal of partial dentures are also a type of bridgework, but one that can be removed as needed for cleaning. A removable partial denture can be removed at home, or in your dentist's office. Though convenient for oral hygiene, this type of denture may feel a bit less secure than a fixed denture.
Working together, we strive for the goal of your healthiest, most beautiful smile. Missing teeth can be dealt with effectively in a way that best suits you. Contact us on (770) 464-1900 to schedule your visit with Dr. Jones.

I had no idea that you could have fixed partial dentures but that's awesome! That means I don't have to worry about losing it when I take it out. I accidentally knocked an entire tooth out last week and I haven't been able to confidently smile since. I think having partial dentures would be a good idea.
